La misión es la madre de la teología. Los apóstoles fueron enviados a evangelizar. El encuentro misionero de ellos y de otros discípulos con el mundo los obligó a teorizar, a escribir, a desarrollar una teología.
Es obvio que la actividad misionera, la difusión de la fe cristiana entre quienes todavía no la han recibido, no agota la misión y la actividad de la Iglesia. Hoy, más que nunca, se hace necesario atraer a los hombres hacia la Iglesia de Cristo, sacramento universal de salvación (tarea misionera); pero también una acción ordenada a impulsar a quienes hacen parte de ella a vivir a fondo la fe que han recibido (tarea pastoral) y, supuesto el factor de las divisiones o rupturas de unidad, el empeño por reconducir a la plenitud de la comunión a los que confiesan a Cristo (tarea ecuménica). En estos postulados se basan los objetivos de la nueva diócesis de la Iglesia Católica Reformada.
La Diócesis Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe fue erigida canónicamente por la Iglesia Católica Reformada el pasado 28 de enero de 2011. La Diócesis tendrá su sede en la Isla de Puerto Rico, e impactará desde ahí los estados del sur de los Estados Unidos (i.e: Oklahoma, Arkansas, Texas, Lousiana, Alabama, Mississippi, Florida, Georgia y Carolina del Sur) y los territorios de Puerto Rico y las Islas Vírgenes. Además nuestro Obispo, como Nuncio Apostólico atenderá los siguientes países: México, Islas Caribeñas, Centro y Sur América, España, Portugal y los países del Sur de Asia que tiene asignados (Las Filipinas, Taiwan, Japón, Oceanía -occidental).
Su Excelencia Reverendísima José Israel de la Trinidad, Fraile Carmelita de la Divina MIsericordia (de la Iglesia Católica Reformada), aceptó ser consagrado como Primer Obispo de la Diócesis. Este inmediatamente puso la diócesis bajo la protección de la Emperatriz de las Américas, Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe.
Actualmente Monseñor José Israel se encuentra reclutando el clero que le hará falta para llevar a cabo su obra misionera. De igual modo, se está desarrollando un Programa Vocacional para dar inicio a la formación de nuevos diáconos y sacerdotes misioneros para toda la jurisdicción a su cargo. Por otra parte, la obra de Monseñor José Israel será respaldada por los Frailes Carmelitas de la Divina MIsericordia y un grupo de frailes misioneros que oportunamente estarán a su servicio. Al momento, nuestra diócesis mantiene representación en varios países de América Latina, entre otros: Puerto Rico, Brazil, Paraguay y en Chile.
¨Si bien no se puede ver a Dios, podemos sin embargo, desde que El hizo el mundo, contemplarlo a través de sus obras y entender por ellas que él es eterno, poderoso y que es Dios¨ (Rom 1, 19-20). San Pablo en esta afirmación nos dice que se puede ver a Dios de alguna manera, eso es, a través de sus obras. Toda experiencia religiosa ha de sentir un llamado a abrirse, a romper el estrecho círculo que la encierra para poder acercarse más a la verdad. De ahí que el desafío que ha lanzado la Iglesia Católica Reformada a nuestra diócesis vaya dirigido a encontrarnos en las fronteras, en lugares difíciles, delicados y profundos porque no estarán constituidos por límites geográficos sino por los límites que marquen el corazón mismo y el tipo de experiencia de fe de cada persona y de cada comunidad.
La misión de nuestra Iglesia se fundamentará en el amor y la acogida de todas las personas que se sientan solas, marginadas u olvidadas. La misión es un movimiento de ágape y su fuerza motivadora es el amor. Podríamos decir pues que la misión es un amor en busca de comunicación; es el mismo amor que emana del amor trinitario participado que quiere envolver a todos los hombres. Como San Pablo, gran misionero y apóstol, tendremos que exclamar: ¨Amándoos a vosotros, queríamos daros no solo el evangelio de Dios, sino incluso nuestro propio ser, porque habíais llegado a sernos muy queridos¨(1 Tes 2,8).
OUR DIOCESE
Mission is the mother of theology. The apostles were sent to evangelize. The missionary encounter of them and other disciples with the world forced them to theorize, to write, and to develop a theology.
It is obvious that the missionary activity; spreading out the Christian faith among those who have not yet received, it´s not the whole mission and activity of the Church. Today more than ever, it is necessary to attract men to the Church of Christ, the universal sacrament of salvation (missionary task), but also an action ordered to encourage those who are part of it to live fully the faith they have received (pastoral task), and of course the factor of the divisions or breaks in drive, the drive to bring into the fullness of communion to those who confess Christ (ecumenical task). These assumptions underly the objectives of the new diocese of the Reformed Catholic Church.
Our Lady of Guadalupe Diocese was canonically erected by the Reformed Catholic Church on January 28, 2011. The See of the Diocese will be based in the island of Puerto Rico (USA territory), and from there it will impact the complet diocesan jurisdiction, which comprises the following states: Texas, Lousiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina and two USA territories: Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands.
Our bishop, as Apostolic Nuncio for Latin America will also impact other countries:, Mexico, Caribbean Islands, Central and South America. On the other hand, as Apostolic Administrator, our bishop will also serve the needs of Spain, Portugal and the countries of South Asia that are assigned (the Philippines, Taiwan Japan, Pacific-western).
The Most Reverend Jose Israel de la Trinidad, a Reformed Carmelite of the Divine Mercy friar, agreed to be consecrated first bishop of the Diocese. He immediately placed the diocese under the protection of the Empress of the Americas, Our Lady of Guadalupe. Monsignor Jose Israel is currently recruiting the clergy that he will need to carry out the pastoral work assigned to his diocese. Also, he is developing a vocational program to begin the training of new deacons and missionary priests. Moreover, the work of Monsignor Jose Israel will be supported by the Friars of the Reformed Carmelites of the Divine Mercy Order.
Actually, our diocese maintains representation in several countries in Latin America, among others: Brazil, Paraguay and soon in Chile and Argentina.
¨ Because that which is known of God is manifest 1within them, for God manifested it to them. For the invisible things of Him, both His eternal power and 1divine characteristics, have been clearly seen since the creation of the world, being perceived by the things made, so that they would be without excuse.¨
(Rom 1, 19-20)
In the abovementioned statement, St. Paul tell us that we can see God in some way, that is, through his works. All religious experience has to feel a call to open, break the closed circles that encloses society in order to get closer to the truth. Hence, the challenge launched by the Reformed Catholic Church to our diocese is directed to meet at the borders, in occasions in difficult, delicate and deep areas, but yet, geographic boundaries will not limit us; limits will be established by our hearts and the type of faith experienced by each person and each community.
The mission of our Church is founded on love and acceptance of all people who feel lonely, marginalized or forgotten.
The mission is a movement of agape and its motivating force is love. We could say then that our mission is: love for communication; the same love that emanates from the love of the Holy Trinity, that wants to involve every man. Like St. Paul, the great missionary and apostle, we must exclaim: ¨ Be kindly to you, we want to give not only the gospel of God but also ourselves, because you had become beloved to us ° (1 Thess 2.8).
LA INCLUSIVIDAD DE JESÚS
Según el relato de Lucas, un fariseo llamado Simón estaba muy interesado en invitar a Jesús a su mesa. Probablemente, quería aprovechar la comida para debatir algunas cuestiones con aquel galileo que está adquiriendo fama de profeta entre la gente. Jesús acepta la invitación: a todos ha de llegar la Buena Noticia de Dios.
Durante el banquete sucede algo que Simón no había previsto. Una prostituta de la localidad interrumpe la sobremesa, se echa a los pies de Jesús y rompe a llorar. No sabe cómo agradecerle el amor que muestra hacia quienes, como ella, viven marcadas por el desprecio general. Ante la sorpresa de todos, besa una y otra vez los pies de Jesús y los unge con un perfume precioso.
Simón contempló la escena horrorizado. ¡Una mujer pecadora tocando a Jesús en su propia casa! No lo puede soportar: aquel hombre es un inconsciente, no un profeta de Dios. A aquella mujer impura habría que apartar rápidamente de Jesús.
Sin embargo, Jesús se deja tocar y querer por la mujer. Ella le necesita más que nadie. Con ternura especial le ofrece el perdón de Dios, luego le invita a descubrir dentro de su corazón una fe humilde que la está salvando. Jesús sólo le desea que viva en paz: «Tus pecados te son perdonados... Tu fe te ha salvado. Vete en paz».
Todos los evangelios destacan la acogida y comprensión de Jesús a los sectores más excluidos por casi todos de la bendición de Dios: prostitutas, recaudadores, leprosos... Su mensaje es escandaloso: los despreciados por los hombres más religiosos tienen un lugar privilegiado en el corazón de Dios. La razón es sólo una: son los más necesitados de acogida, dignidad y amor.
Algún día tendremos que revisar, a la luz de este comportamiento de Jesús, cuál es nuestra actitud en las comunidades cristianas ante ciertos colectivos como las mujeres que viven de la prostitución o los homosexuales y lesbianas cuyos problemas, sufrimientos y luchas preferimos casi siempre ignorar y silenciar en el seno de la Iglesia como si para nosotros no existieran.
No son pocas las preguntas que nos podemos hacer: ¿dónde pueden encontrar entre nosotros una acogida parecida a la de Jesús? ¿a quién le pueden escuchar una palabra que les hable de Dios como hablaba él? ¿qué ayuda pueden encontrar entre nosotros para vivir su condición sexual desde una actitud responsable y creyente? ¿con quiénes pueden compartir su fe en Jesús con paz y dignidad? ¿quién es capaz de intuir el amor insondable de Dios a los olvidados por todas las religiones?
NO APARTEMOS A NADIE DE JESÚS: La Iglesia Católica Reformada acoge y recibe a todos y todas las personas que quieren ser acompañadas en su caminar de fe. Una Iglesia que se denomine cristiana y no es radical, inclusiva y creativa puede tener y hacer muchas cosas buenas y santas, pero no es la Iglesia cuyo fundamento es Jesucristo.
JESUS: RADICALLY INCLUSIVE
According to the story of Luke, a Pharisee named Simon was very interested in inviting him to their table. Probably wanted to take the food to discuss some issues that the Galilean prophet is gaining fame among people. Jesus accepts the invitation, everyone has to bring the Good News of God.
During the banquet something happens that Simon had not foreseen. A local prostitute interrupts the desktop, throws herself at the feet of Jesus and breaks to mourn. She does not know how to thank the love shown to those who, like her, were living marked by the general contempt. To the surprise of everyone, again and again she kisses the feet of Jesus and anointed with costly ointment. Simon watched the scene in horror. A sinful woman playing with Jesus in his home! ¨ I cannot stand: that man is unconscious, not a prophet of God¨. This impure woman should be set aside immediately. Jesus, however, allows the woman to play and love him. With special affection he offers her the forgiveness of God, and invites her to discover in her heart her faith. Jesus only wants her to live in peace. ¨Your sins are forgiven… your faith has saved you…go in peace¨.
All the Gospels emphasize the acceptance and understanding of Jesus to the most excluded: prostitutes, tax collectors, lepers… His message is shocking: the despised by the religious men have a privileged place in the heart of God.
The reason is only one: they are the most in need of host, dignity and love. One day we will be reviewed in the light of the behavior of Jesus, what was our attitude in the Christian communities to certain groups, such as: women who are prostitutes, or gays and lesbians whose problems, sufferings and struggles often are preferred to be ignored and silenced within the Church, as if they did not exist for us.
These are just a few questions we can ask ourselves: can we host in a similar way as Jesus did? Can we speak of God as he spoke? What help can be offered by us to those who live their sexuality in a responsible and faithful way? With whom can we share their faith in Jesus with peace and dignity? Who is able to sense the love of God to those forgotten by all religions?
Let´s not distract anyone from Jesus: The Reformed Catholic Church welcomes and greets everyone who want and needs to be accompanied on their journey of faith... no matter what your personal situation may be. There is no eternal life apart from Jesus. There´s no hope for me other than Jesus Christ. All are invited to come to him.
